How we test

Most betting-site reviews are written without the reviewer ever depositing a rand. Ours aren't. This page is the exact protocol behind every number on this site, maintained by Nico Fortuin.

The test protocol

  1. Registration & FICA: we open a real account in our own name and complete FICA verification like any customer, recording how long verification takes and what documents were accepted or rejected.
  2. Deposit: we deposit our own money (typically R50–R200) using the method under test (voucher, EFT, card), screenshotting each step and noting fees and crediting time.
  3. Real betting activity: we place at least one real bet, because withdrawal rules often differ for unwagered deposits.
  4. Withdrawal: we request a withdrawal to a real South African bank account and record two timestamps: when we submitted the request, and when the money actually reflected in the bank account. The elapsed time — not the operator's marketing claim — is what we publish.
  5. Repeat: payout speeds drift, so we re-run withdrawal tests on a rolling schedule. Every review shows its "last tested" date and a changelog of retests.

What "Not yet tested" means

Exactly that. If a cell in one of our tables says "Not yet tested", we have not measured it ourselves yet, and we will not fill the gap with a guess or the operator's claim. Operator claims, where shown, are always labelled as theirs.

Licence verification

Before an operator appears on this site at all, we verify that it holds a provincial bookmaker licence, citing where the licence information was published and the date we checked. Every review links its source so you can re-check it yourself.

Independence

  • We pay for our own test deposits; operators do not fund or reimburse testing.
  • Operators do not see reviews before publication and cannot pay to change a result.
  • Affiliate commissions never affect rankings — see our affiliate disclosure.
  • Where we haven't tested something, we say so plainly.

Mistakes

If you spot an error — a licence that lapsed, a fee that changed, a payout time that no longer matches reality — tell us. Corrections are logged in the page's changelog, not silently edited.
